There are two main ways to enter the Freight Brokerage industry in the USA:

Obtain Your Own Freight Broker License and Authority
You can apply directly through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) at www.fmcsa.dot.gov. Please note that this process involves fees and regulatory requirements. -
Work as a Freight Agent Under an Existing Freight Broker
This option allows you to operate under another broker’s license. However, it’s important to know that most established freight brokerages (about 98%) require prior experience before hiring new agents.
Important Note:
Across the U.S., many Freight Broker Training Programs charge thousands of dollars upfront for courses that may not lead to real opportunities.
